What is the Construction Industry Scheme?
Since the 5th April 2007, HM Revenue and Customs have introduced and implemented a new Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) which impacts on the taxation process for all construction workers.
This scheme relates to the income tax process for all self-employed construction contractors across the entire construction industry including contractors, subcontractors and self-employed construction workers alike.
